Clouds with No Rain…

Usually in Dallas during the summer we experience periods of severe drought. We have had no significant rainfall. Many days there are clouds and wind and all the makings of a downpour, but no rain. When the clouds show up and do not pour out they actually bring more suffering.   Our humidity level climbs and it makes for a hotter feel to the long days when the temps have been over 100 degrees.  Even the rain we get (which is usually very little) does not help. Our lake levels drop, our grass and trees start dying, the heat is unrelenting and we need relief.  We pray, we ask and we long to be poured out upon. Still nothing.
I equate this to how some of us seem to live our lives. We create wind, we show up with all the makings of a downpour of blessing, but we bring no relief and actually make things feel worse. I have decided that my life will be like that no more. I have decided that my life will become a life that pours out on people. I have decided not to be a cloud with no rain.  Will you join me in the decision?
God in His mercy and love for us sent His son, Jesus Christ, to this earth in the form of a man and poured out His life on us so we may have eternal relief.  He only asks that we follow His example.  Is that too much?  There are people all around us who’s levels are dropping, they are spiritually dying, the heat of life is unrelenting and they need relief.  They need the kind of relief only we as followers of Christ can give them.  Will you so pour out your life on others that they see the Christ in you and thus be relieved when you show up.  Or will you remain a Cloud with No Rain?
